Time For Change Layout Design 2021
When I began working on this project, I noticed how despite being the largest protest in world history, it barely received international media coverage. In an attempt to voice the struggles and capture the historical event which was the 2019-2020 farmers agitation in India, I designed this two page magazine spread. As a collective, we witnessed the largest protest gather in the streets and highways of the nations capital, fighting against agrarian bills that would hurt small farmers across the country. I designed this to raise awareness about the protests and inform readers of its background in an engaging, persuasive manner.
Personal Project
I had a lot of fun with this project. It proved challenging when designing the main visuals, but it helped me experiment with composition, illustration, and typography to strike a balance between visual interest and readability.
I do not own these photographs. They have been credited in the spread. All copy written by me.
Before starting the visual design for the two spreads, I worked on the copy, figuring out what essential topics I wanted to bring attention to. I realized that it was important to humanize the topic and show snippets of the individuals who are involved. I felt that providing these visuals might also help personalize the topic to Individuals outside of an Indian context.
